Personal Experience

Cristina Gena is associate professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Torino, and President of the Master Degree in Communication, ICT, and Media (CIME).  She teaches at the School of ICT (social Innovation Communication and new Technologies), and at the Bachelor in Computer Science and she is part of the PhD Commitee in Computer science. 

She is the president of the User Modeling community UM Inc., which serves as a steering committee for the ACM Conference Series “User Modeling, Adaptation and Personalization” (UMAP) sponsored by SIGCHI and SIGWEB.

She is editorial board member of UMUAI (User Modeling and User-Adapted Interaction) journal, Associate Editor for the Behaviour & Information Technology journal, for for Human-Media Interaction, Frontiers in Computer Science Journal, and for the Frontiers in Neuroinformatics journal.

She has co-organized the following workshops: cAESAR 2020-2021-2022-2023, PATCH 2021-2020-2019-2017-2015-2014, AVICH 2024-2022-2020-2018-2016, MobileCH 2016, AI*HCI 2013. She is/has been UMAP2024 general co-chair, CHItaly 2023 general chair MUM 2021 technical program co-chair, CHItaly 2021 short paper chair, UMAP2020 program co-chair, IUI 2020-2019 registration chair, UMAP 2015 tutorial chair, CHItaly 2017 DC co-chair.

She has been scientific coordinator of funded national, regional, and local projects (funded for example by the Ministry of University and Research, the Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta Regions, the City of Turin etc.) and of several consulting and research projects (funded by e.g. Google, Intesa San Paolo, Quercetti, etc.).
